Meet our Speaker
Joanna la Fleur is a speaker, podcaster, TV host, and digital expert. With business and theology degrees, she has been helping churches communicate the best news in the world for over 15 years. You can catch her interviews with Christian creatives and communicators on the Word Made Digital Podcast, daily communications tips on the Future Church Podcast and her Bible teaching on the national tv show, See Hear Love. Joanna has traveled to 35 countries in search of coffee and calls Toronto home.
Based on the Bible passage found in Luke 5, Joanna will be sharing with us about “The Practice of YES” – How to say our first YES or next YES to Jesus, and what that looks like. What does it look like for YOU to have the courage to say yes to Jesus?
We are very excited to have C-Road’s own, Hannah Bowersox and SAMECITY leading us in worship this year. SAMECITY is a Christian trio based out of Brockville. Since forming in 2010, the band has toured North America with a passion to create environments through worship where people of all walks of life can encounter the life changing power of Jesus Christ.
Workshop sessions will be split into two sessions before and after lunch. Please make ONE selection and attend both sessions.
Workshop A – “Human Trafficking – It’s in YOUR Backyard” with Retired Police Officer, Debbie Pond.
Human Trafficking – we think it only happens to people living “over there” but it can happen to anyone and is happening in “your backyard”. Survivors say they lived in our communities but were unSEEN!
Debbie will discuss what human trafficking entails, the many forms of exploitation, what it looks like in “your backyard”, how to recognize signs of trafficking and recruitment tactics, the role social media plays in human trafficking and how parents and grandparents need to engage, learn about internet safety and talk with their children. She will challenge you to become an Advocate and assist in ending human trafficking in “our backyard”.
Workshop B – TBD
